Brimfield waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Everything went their way against the Illini West Chargers as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Schyer Meinders made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Meinders was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brimfield got a massive performance out of Sawyer Drury, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave Drury a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anja Nelson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Brimfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illini West only posted an OBP of .323.
Brimfield's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Illini West, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13.
