The Louisa County Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Monticello Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Louisa County barely beat Western Albemarle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Warriors on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on six straight.
Louisa County got a great performance from Lily Ruckle as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ruckle has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Alyssa Hopkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Katelyn Cheely was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Louisa County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Monticello put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Goochland. The Mustangs blew past the Bulldogs 11-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
The team relied heavily on Willow Barr, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorothy Shoup, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Louisa County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Monticello, their record now sits at 10-3.
Louisa County came up short against Monticello when the teams last played back in April, falling 6-1. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
