Avella is on a three-game streak of home losses, Chartiers-Houston a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Avella Eagles will take on the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Avella suffered a rough 28-6 defeat at the hands of Burgettstown.
Meanwhile, Chartiers-Houston fell victim to Cornell's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 39-0 loss at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, Chartiers-Houston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 518th, while Cornell is ranked 207th).
Even if they lost, Chartiers-Houston's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Cornell's QB was sacked six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Zeke Watkins and Isaac Jenkins who racked up four sacks between them.
Avella has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Chartiers-Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Avella was taken down by Chartiers-Houston 35-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Avella have more luck at home instead of on the road?
