The Kim/Branson Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 61-41 loss at the hands of Crowley County. While losing is never fun, Kim/Branson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Crowley County is ranked 30th).
Kim/Branson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kolter Cranson, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Cranson scored a full 29.3% of Kim/Branson's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was David Gamez, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Kim/Branson were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Kim/Branson bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Crowley County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Kim/Branson will head out on the road to face off against La Veta at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crowley County, they will be playing at home against Cheraw at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheraw is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
