After having lost a blowout in their previous game against O'Neill, Scotus was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed past the Wayne Blue Devils to the tune of 55-12. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Thomas Settje continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 234 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Scotus' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't). The Shamrocks also got a significant boost from Drew Mustard, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Scotus was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 375 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Despite the loss, Wayne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Easton Endicott threw for 217 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
Scotus' record is now 3-6. As for Wayne, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
