The Pine Lake Prep Pride the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Corvian Community Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Pine Lake Prep posted their biggest win since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 80-56 margin over Langtree Charter. Given Pine Lake Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Langtree Charter is ranked 614th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Lake Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robert Magner, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Magner has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wes Statzer, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Corvian Community entered their tilt with Sun Valley with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Corvian Community rang in the new year with a 77-65 win over Sun Valley last Saturday. That's two games straight that Corvian Community has won by exactly 12 points.
Corvian Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Jackson Jr. out in front who scored 15 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Doug Quarles III, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Pine Lake Prep's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Corvian Community, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
Pine Lake Prep might still be hurting after the 67-41 loss they got from Corvian Community in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Pine Lake Prep, Bryson Chajon (who scored 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
