Summit has been on the road for eight straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Rifle Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
Summit put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season. They blew past Steamboat Springs 47-22.
Summit got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Phoenix Meyer out in front who scored 12 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Meyer grabbed two or more steals. Kayla Smith was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Rifle came up short against Coal Ridge on Friday and fell 52-42. Rifle has not had much luck with Coal Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Summit is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Rifle, they dropped their record down to 5-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything went Summit's way against Rifle in their previous matchup back in January as Summit made off with a 50-29 win. Will Summit repeat their success, or does Rifle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
