Elkins is 3-0 against Lincoln since August of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Elkins Elks will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Elkins sitting on nine straight victories and Lincoln on three.
Last Friday, Elkins got themselves on the board against Gentry, but Gentry never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pioneers 54-0 at home. Fans of Elkins have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Da' Shawn Chairs got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. James Townsend also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lincoln stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 54-14 victory over Berryville on the road. Lincoln pushed the score to 54-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Berryville cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kale Jones, who rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for eight yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Moore, who threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes.
Elkins' victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Elkins against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 77-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elkins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
