Basketball Recap: Jay Huerta Key Part of a Team Effort in Satellites Win

South Central hadn't done well against Hebron recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The South Central Satellites managed a 62-57 victory over the Hebron Hawks. This was a revenge game for the Satellites: when they faced off against the Hawks two weeks ago, they had to take a 61-58 defeat.

South Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jay Huerta, who went 7 for 13 en route to 21 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Huerta a new career-high in assists. Brody Grass was another key player, putting up seven points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.

South Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Hebron's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Wynsma, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 20 points and five boards. The contest was Wynsma's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Socci, who posted 20 points and five rebounds.

The win got South Central back to even at 7-7. As for Hebron, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

South Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-59 loss against Washington Township on the 25th. As for Hebron, they will head out on the road to take on Wheeler at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. One thing working in Hebron's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
