Softball Recap: Doral Academy Red Rock Finds Playoff Glory Versus Desert Oasis

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Doral Academy Red Rock had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks 15-6. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Hailey Ufer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Gabriella Rodriguez was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Desarae Castaneda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Doral Academy Red Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Oasis only managed seven hits.

Doral Academy Red Rock is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Desert Oasis, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9-1.

Looking ahead, Doral Academy Red Rock will face off against Legacy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Longhorns will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Desert Oasis, they will be playing at home against Sierra Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Diamondbacks are facing the Mountain Lions at the right time seeing as the Mountain Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
