The Valley Christian Trojans will take on the Payson Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Valley Christian comes in on 13 and Payson on three.
Valley Christian had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Florence on Monday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Gophers with a sharp 21-2 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Devin Morganfield looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brock Jackson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024. Carson Grier was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one stolen base.
Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florence only posted an OBP of .227.
Meanwhile, Payson hadn't done well against Florence recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Longhorns narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Gophers 7-6.
The team relied heavily on Nolan Keeney, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Valley Christian's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Payson, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Everything went Valley Christian's way against Payson when the teams last played back in February of 2020, as Valley Christian made off with a 13-0 win. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
