The Fremont Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Pinole Valley by the margin of a single free throw, 64-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Among those leading the charge was Deyonte Spears, who scored 25 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Wheeler, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, Pinole Valley still got an impressive performance from Chriseanie Nealy, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. Romyn Waugh was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds.
Fremont's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Pinole Valley, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
Fremont will head out on the road to face off against College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. College Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1020th, while Fremont is ranked 410th). As for Pinole Valley, they will take on Folsom at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
