Meanwhile, Providence School earned a 57-45 win over Creekside on Saturday. Given Providence School's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Creekside is ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hawthorne's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Providence School, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Hawthorne couldn't quite finish off Providence School in their previous meeting back in January and fell 62-59. Thankfully for Hawthorne, Ella Ortman (who scored 35 points along with seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
