Hutsonville/Palestine is 2-8 against Lawrenceville since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Rilyn Lawhead was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Hutsonville/Palestine let Brynn Griffin and Lily Holcomb run wild. Griffin scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Holcomb went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Krick, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Hutsonville/Palestine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lawrenceville lost 10-1 to Casey-Westfield on Monday.
Erin Harris was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Lawrenceville's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Hutsonville/Palestine, their record is now 5-2.
Lawrenceville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hutsonville/Palestine has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Lawrenceville, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Hutsonville/Palestine's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hutsonville/Palestine might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Lawrenceville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
