The Providence Academy Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Mingo Valley Christian Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 16-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Providence Academy came up short against Omaha and fell 60-47. While losing is never fun, Providence Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Omaha is ranked 184th).
Meanwhile, Mingo Valley Christian took a serious blow against Wesleyan Christian on Tuesday, falling 72-45. Mingo Valley Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-11.
Despite the loss, Mingo Valley Christian saw an underclassman step up: Matthew Clary scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Gunner Hitchcock, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Providence Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Mingo Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
Providence Academy lost to Mingo Valley Christian on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Providence Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
