Brown County hasn't had much luck against West Vigo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Brown County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Mooresville Christian 11-1. Considering Brown County's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Cami Keaton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Keaton was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Emma Woolems was excellent, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Isabel Harden was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Vigo). They put the hurt on North Central with a sharp 20-1 win on Monday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Brylie Graves tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Briley Jones, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabel Coulston, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
West Vigo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Brown County, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
Brown County suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to West Vigo in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
