After losing to the Avery Bulldogs the last time they met, the Sulphur Bluff Bears decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Sulphur Bluff walked away with a 41-29 win over Avery on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sulphur Bluff.
Sulphur Bluff's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Neal, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Fite, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Sulphur Bluff's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-14. As for Avery, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Sulphur Bluff will head out on the road to face off against Avinger at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avinger is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Avery, they will be playing at home against Saltillo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saltillo presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avery in Texas (Saltillo is ranked 430th, while Avery is ranked 1458th).
