4A Mountain recap October 29, 2013
Monarch was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Broomfield. The Coyotes came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Mountain this week, Monarch beat the Eagles 48-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Jante Gadson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Montbello defeated Golden. He completed 10 passes for 84 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 75 yards. Gadson's key target this week was Marquille Jones, who caught 8 passes for 70 yards.
Jacob Naranjo put up the best numbers through the air as Standley Lake topped George Washington. He finished with a total of 9 completions for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. Naranjo's favorite target this week was Matt Fujinami, who caught 3 passes for 60 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Naranjo of the Gators is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,512. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jones. The Montbello star has 51 catches for 607 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Standley Lake takes on second place Monarch. Standley Lake topped the Patriots last week, while the Coyotes bested Broomfield.
