It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Aubrey had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Canton Eagles by a score of 9-4. Winning may never get old, but the Chaparrals sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Mya Cherry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Abby Lynch-Buxton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tamia Cherry, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Aubrey's record now sits at 31-3. As for Canton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 24-10-2.
