The McGregor Mercuries lost against the Cromwell Cardinals back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. McGregor received a tough blow as they fell 54-37 to Cromwell. While losing is never fun, McGregor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Cromwell is ranked 85th).
Cromwell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Anderson, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryanna Foster, who scored nine points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for McGregor and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Cromwell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
McGregor will head out on the road to take on Ogilvie at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cromwell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Esko at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
