Basketball Recap: Forestview Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Miangel Thompson and Sa'ryah Mccorkle

If Forestview was riding high fresh off their 68-30 takedown of North Gaston last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Forestview Jaguars lost to the Ashbrook Greenwave on the road by a 66-52 margin on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greenwave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-29 back in January.

Despite the loss, Forestview had strong showings from Sa'Ryah McCorkle, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 boards, and Miangel Thompson, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave McCorkle a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Molly Forgan, who put up four points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Forestview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Jakyra Sadler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ashbrook, putting up 24 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Sadler's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. AriAnnA Mcdowell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Forestview has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Ashbrook, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-11.

Coming up, Forestview will face off against Kings Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kings Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Ashbrook, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-30 win against North Gaston on the 11th.
