Suburban recap October 29, 2013
Rashaad Penny of Norwalk ran for the longest rushing play in Suburban this season against Glenn last week. Penny scampered for 86 yards on the play and finished with 181 on the day as his team defeated the Eagles.
Matthew Ortega and Dillon Faamatau provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Glenn. The connection was good for 72 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Penny provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Norwalk topped Ray Niemann's team.
Kevin Cabot made the biggest impact on defense this week as jesse ceniceros' team topped the Eagles. The 5-foot-9 junior nabbed 1 interception.
Penny was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 181 yards on 5 carries as the Lancers beat Glenn. Teammate McDowell Ryan added to the ground attack by rushing for 120 yards.
La Mirada's Kevin Dillman and Dallis Todd have formed a dream team this season, leading Suburban in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Dillman has thrown for 892 yards this season, while Todd has 33 catches for 499 yards. Cerritos's LaMarr Crowder leads the league in rushing yards with 1,287.
Adam Carrasco of the the Matadores is just 57 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Carrasco has rushed for 943 yards on 114 carries so far this year.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when La Mirada's Todd goes up against the Lancers' Aaron Armendarez.
Next week's game between Jake Angulo's team and Norwalk will feature an aerial matchup as Dillman tests his arm against Armendarez's defensive ability.
As it stands, the Matadores are in fifth, while the Lancers are in first.
