The Trinity Christian Crusaders will head out on the road to challenge the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Trinity Christian comes in on 12 and Harrells Christian Academy on 16.
Trinity Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They secured a 69-65 W over Northwood Temple Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Baganley Donzo, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xayden Watson, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 20 points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Harrells Christian Academy hadn't done well against Fayetteville Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Harrells Christian Academy walked away with an 80-69 win over Fayetteville Academy. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Eagles are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trinity Christian better focus on containing Antonio Mckoy and Dashaun Mckoy as the pair were huge in Harrells Christian Academy's win. Antonio dropped a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds, while Dashaun went 12-for-17 en route to 29 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, Dashaun now owns an excellent 40.7% three-point shooting accuracy. Zicareian Mcneil was another key player, putting up nine points and seven assists.
Trinity Christian pushed their record up to 23-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.5 points. As for Harrells Christian Academy, their record now sits at 29-2.
Saturday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Trinity Christian has been crazy accurate this season, having made 51.3% of their shots per game. However, it's not like Harrells Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've made 52.2% of their field goals this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Trinity Christian against Harrells Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 91-54 win. Will Trinity Christian repeat their success, or does Harrells Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
