The West Bend West Spartans will take on the Homestead Highlanders at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The last three games West Bend West has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
West Bend West fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against Nicolet  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of  6-5.
West Bend West got a good showing from  Eli Kopidlansky, who   pitched 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Kopidlansky has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in four consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, West Bend West got a big performance out of  Ryan Rose, who  got on base  in four of his six plate appearances with two  runs and one  stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cullen Roell, who  got on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  stolen bases and one  run.
Meanwhile, Homestead fought the good fight in their extra-innings  match against Cedarburg  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell  6-3 to the Bulldogs.
 Charlie Blume put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   two  hits (and only one walk). Blume was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with one  run.
 Blume wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Joe Simon, who  got on base  in all three of his plate appearances with two  RBI. Simon also  got a  hit, marking his first of the season.
 West Bend West's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
 West Bend West took their  win against Homestead  when the teams last played  back in April by a conclusive  11-1 score. Do  the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
