The Indianapolis Lutheran Saints put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 21-14 victory over South Putnam. Given Indianapolis Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while South Putnam is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Putnam's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Bransyn Ensor, who picked up 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Wyatt Mullin was another key contributor, throwing for 226 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes.
Indianapolis Lutheran's win was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 13-1 North Decatur and 10-2 Indianapolis Scecina Memorial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.4% over those games). As for South Putnam, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Indianapolis Lutheran will head out on the road to face off against Covenant Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last four contests. South Putnam does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
