An exciting East v. West battle is about to be fought. The West Vikings will look to defend their home court on Monday against the East Bakersfield Blades at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, West came up short against Tehachapi and fell 3-1. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-20 in the first set.
West started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.

West's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Marciela Dizon, who had seven digs and one block, and Jolene Quezada, who had 18 digs, three aces, and one block. Dizon has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last six times she's played.
Meanwhile, East Bakersfield was able to grind out a solid victory over North on Wednesday, taking the game 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blades.
East Bakersfield had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 27-25, 26-24, 25-20.
West better keep an eye on Kaylie Demison. She was instrumental in East Bakersfield's win, getting 43 digs and four aces. That's the most digs Demison has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Brisa Castro, who had 23 digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: East Bakersfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive matches.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-1. As for East Bakersfield, their win bumped their record up to 15-8-1.
Everything went West's way against East Bakersfield in their previous matchup on October 1st, as West made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Blades have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
