Neosho is 8-2 against McDonald County since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Neosho Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the McDonald County Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Neosho will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while McDonald County is ranked 84th).
On Tuesday, Neosho was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to Parkview.
Meanwhile, McDonald County came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 62-40 margin over Adrian. McDonald County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.
McDonald County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roslynn Huston, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Carlee Cooper, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Neosho has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for McDonald County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Neosho was taken down by McDonald County 58-22 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Neosho avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
