Ellsworth has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Foxcroft Academy Ponies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Ellsworth's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Ellsworth stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-29 win over Houlton on the road. Given Ellsworth's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Houlton is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Foxcroft Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 57-34 loss at the hands of Mount Desert Island. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Foxcroft Academy has suffered yet this season.
Despite their defeat, Foxcroft Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Addison Conklin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Conklin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Addie Day was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Foxcroft Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Ellsworth's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Foxcroft Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
