The Douglas Bulldogs waltzed into Thursday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thatcher 57-30 at home. For Douglas, this counts as revenge for the 63-36 defeat Thatcher walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Leading Douglas to victory were Francia Rubio and Scarlette Ruiz . Rubio scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals, while Ruiz scored 14 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. The matchup was Ruiz 's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keyra Espinosa, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Thatcher, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas will take on Palo Verde at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Thatcher will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Show Low at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th.
