Floyd Central is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Gibson Southern is on a four-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Highlanders will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Titans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Floyd Central's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Gibson Southern's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Floyd Central's win against Corydon Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Highlanders never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. The team relied heavily on Elise Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Kiersten Fiedler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Miley Sperling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Laney Scherer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emerson Walker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Floyd Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gibson Southern struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Floyd Central took their victory against Gibson Southern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
