East Rowan is a perfect 10-0 against Lake Norman Charter since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. East Rowan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
East Rowan's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Concord 11-0. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 11-0).
East Rowan got a great performance from Julian Cauble as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Harrison Ailshie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024. Braylen Ketchie was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
East Rowan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Norman Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over South Rowan on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
David Wignot made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Wignot was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corey Bean, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jesus Acuna, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
East Rowan pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Norman Charter, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.
East Rowan skirted past Lake Norman Charter 7-6 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
