Long Prairie-Grey Eagle is a perfect 3-0 against Ashby since May of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Thunder will look to defend their home field against the Arrows at 5:00 p.m. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Ashby's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle barely beat Breckenridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over the Cowboys on Friday. Considering the Thunder have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Hagen Brunkhorst, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Leevke Brunkhorst was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .475. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Ashby entered their tilt with Ortonville on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 6-4.
Brooks Rylander and Maison Barry made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Rylander struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Barry pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Rylander went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Barry went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That stolen base was Rylander's first of the season.
In other batting news, Henry Olson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Bradley Schroeder, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Ashby, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Ashby's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Long Prairie-Grey Eagle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Ashby, though, as they've only averaged .238. Will they be able to contain Long Prairie-Grey Eagle's hitters?
Everything went Long Prairie-Grey Eagle's way against Ashby in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Long Prairie-Grey Eagle made off with a 25-0 win. Do the Thunder have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Arrows turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
