The Cornwall Central Dragons will challenge the Beacon Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Cornwall Central's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 29-0 victory over Ballston Spa. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Scotties are ranked 157th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danny Twomey had a dynamite game, rushing for 90 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (151.1). Another player making a difference was Jordan Bishop, who rushed for 90 yards and one score on only 12 carries.
Cornwall Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Quadir Truluck, Jayden Scott, and Ryan Nunez-Gomez, who each picked up one sack apiece. Cornwall Central got some further help from Truluck: he picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles (3.5 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beacon). They blew past Roosevelt 35-15 on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won three matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cornwall Central better keep an eye on Elijah Epps. He was instrumental in Beacon's win, rushing for 120 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, while also picking up 85 receiving yards and one TD. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 50 yards. Delano Rigby Jr was another key player, throwing for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Beacon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Beacon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.0 points over those games. As for Cornwall Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
