The Trinity Shamrocks will head out on the road to face off against the Middletown Blue Raiders at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Trinity is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Harrisburg on Monday as Trinity made off with an 18-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Brianna Topper looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Trinity got a massive performance out of Zea Sullivan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Sullivan launched this season. Anna Sheaffer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Trinity was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Middletown narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past East Pennsboro 12-10.
Kenadee Hileman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Hileman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Hileman is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Journee Stover was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Delaney Fitzpatrick, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Trinity's record now sits at 6-2. As for Middletown, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Middletown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trinity has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Middletown, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Trinity's sizable advantage in that area, Middletown will need to find a way to close that gap.
Trinity beat Middletown 10-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Trinity repeat their success, or does Middletown has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
