Central Connecticut I West recap October 1, 2013
Jordon Bell of Hall ran for the longest rushing play in Central Connecticut I West this season against Newington last week. Bell's team defeated the Indians as he sprinted for 89 yards on the play and finished with 153 in all.
Southington took down Simsbury 38-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Stephen Barmore threw for 329 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 43 yards during the win.
He went 25-38 with 1 interception.
Alex Jamele was the best wideout in the league this week as the Blue Knights bested the Trojans. Jamele tallied 10 receptions for 114 yards. Jasen Rose helped Southington's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 87 yards.
Southington's Barmore and Jamele led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Barmore has thrown for 748 yards this season, while Jamele, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 22 catches for 355 yards. Simsbury's Brad Helmkamp leads the league in rushing yards with 364.
A big matchup in Central Connecticut I West this week will be when New Britain takes on Conard. The Golden Hurricanes are currently in second, while the Chieftains are in fourth.
Hall made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,710 from 5,974. The improvement was largely due to a 48-27 victory over Newington last week.
