Simpson Academy is 6-1 against Taylorsville since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Simpson Academy Cougars will be playing at home against the Taylorsville Tartars at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Simpson Academy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Taylorsville in Mississippi (Simpson Academy is ranked 44th, while Taylorsville is ranked 145th).
Simpson Academy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Leake Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Taylorsville put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Leake County for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-20 victory at home. The win was nothing new for Taylorsville as they're now sitting on four straight.
Simpson Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Taylorsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Simpson Academy against Taylorsville when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-30 win. Does Simpson Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Taylorsville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
