Apple Valley is 8-2 against Hesperia since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Sun Devils will challenge the Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. Apple Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Apple Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Serrano on Thursday as they made off with a 23-2 win. Considering the Sun Devils have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Beau Lloyd made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Lloyd was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Reveron, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ethyn Doyle, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Apple Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hesperia earned a 9-4 victory over Notre Dame on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Scorpions.
Like Apple Valley, Hesperia also got a great game from a two-way player: Cameron Cole. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cole was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jacob Castillo was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Ethan Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Apple Valley's record now sits at 15-5. As for Hesperia, their record is now 12-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Apple Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hesperia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Apple Valley couldn't quite finish off Hesperia in their previous matchup back in March and fell 7-5. Can the Sun Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
