Softball Recap: Central Bucks East Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Central Bucks East's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Gwynedd Mercy Academy Monarchs a 17-0 shutout. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Sarah Zmuda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Lyla Becker looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Hailey Helmstetter was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Maggie Funston was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Central Bucks East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gwynedd Mercy Academy only posted an OBP of .000.

Central Bucks East's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
