Henryville has gone a perfect 7-0 against Crawford County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Wolfpack at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Henryville has five straight victories, Crawford County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Henryville came out on top against New Washington on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fifth inning. The Hornets blew past the Mustangs 17-1. Considering the Hornets have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Haylee Nicholas and Kyleigh Lienhart made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Nicholas tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Lienhart pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Nicholas has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Nicholas went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Lienhart went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Lienhart has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Henryville let Allie McAfee and Cheyenne Dobbs run wild. McAfee went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Dobbs went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Dobbs a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mylee Marcum, who went 1-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
Henryville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Crawford County didn't have quite enough to beat Perry Central on Monday and fell 4-3.
Maddyson Sturgeon was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Sturgeon was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Sturgeon wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Ingle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Henryville's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Crawford County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Henryville took their win against Crawford County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
