The Page Pirates fell victim to the Grimsley Whirlies''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Whirlies, falling 54-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Page in their matchups with Grimsley: they've now lost five in a row.
Nigel Hinson threw for 32 yards on six of 12 attempts. On the ground, Maurice Andrews rushed for 57 yards.
Leading Grimsley to victory were Faizon Brandon and Mitchell Summers. Brandon threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, while Summers rushed for 114 yards and five touchdowns on only nine carries. Summers is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. Alex Taylor did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Page now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Grimsley, their victory was their 15th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page will take on Southeast Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Guilford is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Grimsley, they will head out on the road to face off against Northern Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northern Guilford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Grimsley is ranked third).
