White Plains is 2-8 against Jacksonville since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The White Plains Wildcats are on the road again and play against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Monday, White Plains was beaten by Anniston 70-27. While losing is never fun, White Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Anniston is ranked 15th).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Jacksonville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-53 loss to Talladega on Thursday. Jacksonville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jacksonville's loss came about despite a quality game from Alexis Phillips, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Phillips scored a full 28.3% of Jacksonville's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rachel Sanders, who scored eight points.
White Plains' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
White Plains came up short against Jacksonville in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 37-28. Can White Plains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
