Swain County suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after besting Andrews. The Maroon Devils had been ranked 23rd, but fell to 28.
Swain County extended the longest winning streak in 1A Smoky Mountain this week by beating the Wildcats, 62-6. The win marks ninth in a row for the Neil Blankenship's team.
Hayesville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Wall threw for 138 yards and Dylan Williams had 44 yards receiving. On the ground Day Day Williams chipped in 110 yards. Matt Danielson helped Hayesville's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
Swain County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Maroon Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ray Smith has thrown for 1332 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Greg Tisho has 33 catches for 779 yards. Garrett Lane leads the league in rushing with 639 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Maroon Devils take on Rosman. Swain County is currently in first, while the Tigers are in fourth.
The Maroon Devils took down Andrews 62-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
