Chariho is 1-7 against Westerly since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chariho Chargers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Westerly Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on December 29th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Chariho faced Ponaganset in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chariho was beaten by Ponaganset 58-31.
Despite the loss, Chariho got a solid performance out of Emily Ballard, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Ballard's third in a row with at least ten points. Jules White was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westerly managed to keep up with South Kingstown until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Westerly was the victim of a tough 60-34 loss at the hands of South Kingstown. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westerly has scored all season.
Chariho's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Westerly, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Chariho came up short against Westerly in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 45-32. Can Chariho avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
