Columbus is 3-0 against the Golden Tornado since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Columbus Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Field Kindley Golden Tornado at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Columbus is ranked 197th, while the Golden Tornado are ranked 183rd).
Last Friday, Columbus had to suffer through a rough 53-24 loss at the hands of the Panthers. Columbus has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Columbus had strong showings from Ellie Helms, who scored nine points along with two steals, and Ava Harman, who scored three points. Helms has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Columbus struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Field Kindley beat the Dragons 41-37 on Friday.
Columbus' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Field Kindley, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Everything went Columbus' way against the Golden Tornado in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the Titans made off with a 58-35 victory. Will Columbus repeat their success, or do the Golden Tornado have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
