It was a good run, but the Mekeel Christian Academy Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 72-61 to Green Tech. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Mekeel Christian Academy came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Eagles are ranked 37th).
Green Tech got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was U'Mier Graham out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Graham also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Indavier Barnes, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Mekeel Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Green Tech, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Newburgh Free Academy the next time they take the court. Green Tech will host Newburgh Free Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Mekeel Christian Academy will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
