Basketball Recap: Chrisman Falls Despite Big Games from Jaidyn Alexander and Taylor Jones

Chrisman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 45-28 to the Oakwood Comets. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Comets from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Chrisman's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Taylor Jones, who posted seven points in addition to 17 boards and eight blocks, and Jaidyn Alexander, who had nine points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Whitnie Haton, who scored three points.

Oakwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylee Wright led the charge by putting up nine points and six rebounds. Emma Koontz also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Chrisman's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Oakwood, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-14.

Chrisman has already played their next match, a 54-13 defeat against Cissna Park on the 15th. As for Oakwood, they will be playing at home against Georgetown-Ridge Farm at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Oakwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
