Elba is a perfect 9-0 against Florala since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Elba is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Elba came up short against Brantley on Wednesday, falling 16-1. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Florala). They put the hurt on Laurel Hill with a sharp 21-1 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Paige Musso made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Musso was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubree Powell, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Murray, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Florala always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Elba's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Florala, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Elba has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Florala struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Elba took their victory against Florala when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
