The Modesto Christian Crusaders entered their tilt with the Lincoln Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Modesto Christian took down Lincoln 68-53 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Modesto Christian also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Gavin Sykes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that he grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Marcus Washington, who scored 15 points.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donez Lindsey, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Merolla, who scored 11 points.
Lincoln struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Modesto Christian pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Lincoln, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.
Modesto Christian will look to defend their home court on Monday against Notre Dame Prep at 12:00 p.m. Notre Dame Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Modesto Christian likes a good challenge. Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Woodcreek at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Woodcreek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.3 points per game.
