The South County Stallions will head out to face off against the Loudoun Valley Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Loudoun Valley will take on a team with plenty of momentum: South County extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Stallions were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over Alexandria City.
The team relied heavily on Ava Abromavage, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kiley Gregory also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Loudoun Valley). Everything went their way against Dominion on Thursday as they made off with a 21-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.
Hailey White and Maddie Howell were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, White pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Howell tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, White got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Howell went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Loudoun Valley got a massive performance out of Anna Ramos, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Kayla Dunkerley was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
South County's record now sits at 11-7. As for Loudoun Valley, their record is now 6-7.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Loudoun Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
