Meanwhile, Mountain View hadn't done well against Bend recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Lava Bears by a score of 12-8.
Blaire Eckman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since April 3rd. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Mountain View let Cadence Kennedy and Keilah McCarthy run wild. Kennedy went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while McCarthy went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. McCarthy has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janelle Guiney, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Ridgeview's record now sits at 12-4. As for Mountain View, their record is now 13-2.
Ridgeview beat Mountain View 10-7 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
